Howdy. We’ve returned safely and gratefully from our mid-summer, 6,400 kilometer Western excursion to the wildly inspiring Battle of the Greasy Grass, the site of the Native American world’s stunning 1876 military victory, all in celebration of its 150-year anniversary and the greater USA’s 250th.
I sent the video above — shot in the Northern Unit of Teddy Roosevelt National Park on Sunday evening, July 19th — to a friend who actually had not seen the Yellowstone Bison attack the week prior. That said, the CNN coverage of that Bull’s angry toss informs this video a bit, and RoZie and I are just happy to have more peacefully communed with the Buffalo Nation, the heart of the old Lakota Nation. to return unscathed.
Our road trip from Des Moines, Iowa, to Wall, South Dakota, to Red Lodge, Montana, then back through Medora, North Dakota and finally Blue Earth, Minnesota — home of legendary graphic designer Becky Ankeny — has yielded a ton of new stories and even inspired some new workshops, so watch Fo’ Mo’ shortly.
